If you’ve been lucky enough to attempt the first raid in RIFT and win then you might know what is going on in this thread. In the original post in this forum thread the original post by Jerle made a good observation:

So Briarcliff celebrated its first raid kill earlier tonight with a Duke Letraeus kill led by Slash Flex, stay small NERDS and random acquaintances of the above guild. After about an hour and a half of reps, we finally got him down (enjoying the shardwide message and the sense of progress at getting it down post-buff and such).

Imagine my dismay as the MT/raid leader when I popped open the chest and we got… Two epics.

Personally, some of us here at RIft Junkies has defeated the first boss in Greenscale, Duke Letraeus, we agree with this statement.

We already know that there will be at least two tiers of raids in the next 6-10 months. You have Greenscale’s Blight and an unannounced raid zone on the same tier coming soon. After you’ll have Hammerknell and another unannounced raid zone after that on the same second tier. Minimally your raid guild will have at least 20 people assuming everyone has 100% attendance. This is almost never the case with the average raid guild, so lets say that a solid guild will have at least 25 people, if not more.

In order to get fully geared in raid equipment, a player needs 10-12 pieces of gear depending on weapon slots. For a raid group of 25 players, that’s at most 300 pieces of gear or 150 boss kills, assuming Greenscale and all the other bosses in the zone drop 2 items as well. That is 30 zone clears, or 30 weeks.

It’s also assuming that you get everything you need in that time and don’t get bit by the nasty random number generator. However there is a silver lining.

From Zor on the official forums:

We’re evaluating the quantity of items that are dropped and may make adjustments. If we do make any changes, it probably won’t happen until the 1.1 patch.

So it looks like Trion is on top of things when it comes to gear acquisition. Let’s hope that players won’t have to grind forever in Greenscale in order to advance. There are two things to also consider. Can and will T2 plaque gear and drops be able to hold up throughout Greenscale and into Hammerknell? Will the next unannounced Raid Zone be able to supplement enough gear for this particular raid tier?

What do you guys think, is 2 pieces of gear per boss in a five boss dungeon on a one week lockout enough?
