Surviving with the Fishies in Patch 1.9

With the upcoming Patch 1.9: Conquest next week we don’t want you feeling like a fish out of water. There will be a ton of changes but there are some fun things with fishing that we’re going to tackle. For the Summerfest you will get three quests, one is called Lurecraft where you will need to use Sunplant Leaves to create lures. For each Summer Sunfish Lure you will need 5 Sunplant Leaves. The lures will guarantee you catch only Summer Sunfish and will give you 5 charges.

You do not need to train to create these lures, they are a borrowed recipe that will already be in your Fishing Lures at level one.  You will also get the quest Summer Sunfishin, which is to catch 10 Summer Sunfish. The third quest, Sandwiches for Everyone will also have another borrowed recipe in your Survivalist recipes called Sunfish Po’Boy. Again, you will not need to train for this recipe but you will have to buy Dough to complete the recipe and turn in the quest. One Summer Sunfish per Po’boy sandwich. For the quest you will need to make 10 sandwiches. Eating these sandwiches will morph you into various disguises.

To make these quests easier you may notice that your map now shows where these pools of fish are! Once you are near a pool, and most of these are in very shallow water, don’t look for your average pool of fish, you want to look for the Sunplants and fish on top of those. There will only be two Summer Sunfish pools per zone but the yield of Summer Sunfish and Sunplats is pretty high. You get about 20 fish and plants per pool. So don’t be afraid to share with your friends. To save time if you have received all three of the fishing and survivalists quests you will need:

• 20 Summer Sunfish
• 10 Sunplant Leaves

If you’re interested in Fishing and Survivalist but have yet to start but you plan on doing these quests, I would definitely suggest starting now and using the fabulous guide: Reeling in New Tradeskills as a great way to get you on the right track. There are also quite a few new Survivalist recipes to help you on your way to the top but the Summerfest Fishing and Survivalist quests can be done in any zone.

There is also only one achievement for fishing for the Summerfest, Angling for the top, catch 100 Summer Sunfish. It is needed for the Fun in the Sun achievement which gives you the title The Scavenger.
