Daglar continued addressing a solid portion of player feedback on the forums yesterday. Among his posts, a few were especially interesting. He commented on what we’ll be seeing as far as race and faction change items in the cash shop as well as the future of server transfers and expansion content.

This first quote was regarding the possibility of additional character slots in the item store:

Character slots is on the wish list, but we cannot say for certain if it will make the launch date.

Server transfers will remain free for your normal free weekly transfer. We could potentially in the distant future charge for multiple moves per week, but I don’t really like that idea and I’d rather get us to a better place with cross shard / single shard technology.

Faction and race changes are not linked. If you change yourself to a Bahmi as a guardian, you are still a Guardian. If you are a Kelari and change faction, you are still a Kelari.

Bahmi Guardian? Now that’s an interesting change.

Since this week’s huge bombshell announcement regarding RIFT going free-to-play beginning June 12th, Daglar and the entire Trion RIFT team have been quite diligent in making sure they keep the lines of communication open with the playerbase. Daglar has set a record with the amount of posts he’s made in this official forum thread (hence “Daglar Tracker”) which has been an overall solid source for player feedback.

Keep reading to see a couple of choice quotes that Daglar made yesterday regarding the possibility of additional servers for the F2P transition and thoughts on in-game shop gear, previous raid tiers, and some possible changes we may see to tier mark systems in the future.

Hellbugs are pouring out of fire rifts everywhere in RIFT, but Hellbug mounts, on the other hand, are proving a little more difficult to come across. RNG is RNG, as they say, but Trion is making one adjustment to help us out during our searches. In a future patch, all Hellbug rewards including pets and mounts will be made Bind on Account. The announcement was made first by MikeD then later confirmed by Elrar, who also reminded players that these rifts will stick around for a while, so there’s no need to feel pressured to farm all of the Hellbugs within this first week of release.

Just wanted to mention again – the Invasive Species Fire Rift will remain in-game for the forseeable future, at this time there are no plans to remove it from the regular rotation of fire rifts.

As Mike mentioned – all of the Hellbug rewards will be made Bind on Account in an upcoming Hot Fix.

If ya feel a bit burned out (no pun intended) on killing Hellbugs trying to get the rarer rewards I encourage you to take a break and enjoy other parts of RIFT – they’ll be there for ya when you return

Thanks all, have fun, good luck and have a wonderful weekend!

Happy hunting!

Remember a couple weeks ago when Elrar showed off this little yellow guy during Trion’s weekly live stream? Raptr’s making his debut leap onto our RIFT shards today with the addition of a handful of new Raptr rewards.

What is Raptr, you ask? Raptr is this nifty gaming site and software that’s free and can be used to connect with other gamers, share screenshots, news, etc., and track your gaming time. Raptr often pairs up with game companies like Trion to give away in-game goodies and promotions as a reward for being a member.

For the Raptr pet, you’ll need to have an Elite Raptr rating in RIFT or higher. The good news is that if you’re new to Raptr, you have plenty of time to obtain that rating since this promotion will run from April 23rd to June 11th. Other than the cute yellow guy, Trion and Raptr are offering a new pair of Wardrobe-specific Stone Spaulders and this Storm Legion Arbiter Helm that was also offered at the beginning of the expansion.

Oh, yeah, and there’s also a promotion for a free copy of RIFT and Storm Legion if you’re a little late on picking up the game and/or expansion. For more information, check out Raptr’s information page on this offer as well as Trion’s announcement regarding the promotion. Raptr herd, assemble!

While we still don’t know exactly when RIFT 2.3 is coming out, Daglar did toss out a hint about one thing we’ll see in RIFT 2.4– a new 20-man raid. He also gave us one bit of reassuring news on the length of time that will go between these next two updates:

Next question is when is 2.4? Currently scheduled for a shorter amount of time than 2.2 to 2.3.

Daglar wasn’t quite as generous with hints when it came to the PvP front of the game. In this forum thread, he mentioned the following:

“There is no current ETA for another Warfront. There is no need for conspiracy theories that no one plays PvP in RIFT – quite a few folks do. The content of PvP is typically, the PvP itself. New maps are great, and we’d love to provide more when the time is right – but I cannot give you a date and or time when a new Warfront will be delivered.”

One of the features players most commonly request is the ability to alter the appearance of our weapons through RIFT‘s Wardrobe system. Many players had hoped we’d gain the ability to change the appearance of our weapons in Storm Legion. It didn’t happen, unfortunately, but Daglar did have some excellent news yesterday for players who have been faithfully reminding Trion’s RIFT team that this feature is still very much needed:

Wardrobe will not be available for weapons. However we have another solution coming down the pipe for 2.3 to customize weapon appearances.

Later in the same thread, Pithos added an extra detail and told us that yes, this new system will also affect the appearance of shields and other off-hand items. Hooray!

architect

In a recent news post, Trion announced that the team will be holding a special live stream event on Friday, April 26th that will focus on the Architects, “an ancient race whose technology has the power to traverse the very fabric of space and time.” The live stream will also delve into the story surrounding the Architects and how that story will evolve when Dendrome is released in RIFT 2.3. The live stream event will take place at 1:30 PM PST on Trion’s Twitch channel.

For more information, see the official announcement.

moonshade

Elrar announced yesterday that we’ll be seeing the arrival of the new Moonshade Pools dimension next week. This dimension will be one of the largest personal dimensions in-game and will sport a 1000-item limit. It also, of course, features one of the most gorgeous areas of Moonshade Highlands. Elrar also announced that the team will handing out some dimension goodies (two ferns to be exact) for players who are signed up to receive the RIFT newsletter. The team will also be holding a couple of special live stream events for the grand opening of Moonshade Pools:

silverwood

In this week’s earlier hotfix, the Trion RIFT team updated some of the ways in which new players will experience questing in Freemarch and Silverwood. Players will be able to take part in Carnage quests which will give them a little preview of what’s in store for them in Storm Legion. When a few players on the forums questioned whether they were able to go back and see these Carnage additions for themselves, Tacitus specified that players who have completed the original content will not be able to go back and complete the new Carnage quests.

He also had a few things to add. Keep reading to take a look.

Daglar shared a bit of good news for Warrior players who enjoy using Combat Veteran Warlord specs that also include abilities found in the Paladin soul. The Paladin soul still has a few clunky “flavor” ability requirements that require the use of a shield. This won’t be the case for much longer!

The flavor is nice on the Paladin, but at the end of the day the game play and synergy suffers for it. I’ve asked Aillion to remove the shield requirement on a number of Paladin abilities – and to rename the ones that would be silly without it.

Hm, that means a change in name for Shield Charge. ‘Shiny Wings O’ Light Charge’, anyone? Nah, probably not.
