odins ravine title

Today we’re taking a peek at a place that’s a little unique. I wanted to find an awesome dimension that made good use of the Kestrel’s Cry Ravine dimension, which is our snowy retreat nestled in Iron Pine Peak. I love snow areas in video games, so I admittedly have a soft spot for all the snow flurries in IPP. I’m also a huge fan of Norse mythology, so taking a look at Embrz’s Odin’s Ravine dimension over on Deepwood was, well, an easy decision. Odin’s Ravine is one of those dimensions where the magic is truly in the details and the unique building blocks used in some of the structures.

Embrz has built up a cozy viking community complete with a welcoming longhouse, outdoor forge, stable, and a few outlaying homes that make the view quite charming. The details inside the longhouse, stable, and forge are pretty amazing if I say so myself. And that pig roast? Nom nom nom.

Enough with the chatter! Keep reading to take a look at our screenshot tour. As with most awesome dimensions, screenshots really don’t do the place justice, however. Take a tour for yourself! You can find Odin’s Ravine on the Deepwood shard.

RJ Patch Notes

GENERAL
* Freemarch: The walls of Iron Fortress have been rebuilt! Quests can once again be completed in the area.
* Zone Events: Unmentored high-level characters may find that their damage is reduced against low-level colossi. Mentoring down to the level of the boss will allow you to deal normal damage.
* Zone events in classic Rift zones now grant a small number of Empyreal Sourcestones or Infinity Stones to high-level characters who mentor down to the level of the event.
* Marks of Notoriety are now granted to high level characters from Storm Legion and classic Rift zone events when mentored. These can be redeemed in Tempest Bay for consumable items that grant notoriety with Storm Legion factions.
* Endless Eclipse: Fixed an issue preventing dead characters from obtaining the Used Tactics achievement.
* Frozen Tempest: Fixed issue that prevented the Rapid Assault achievement from being awarded.
* Triumph of the Dragon Queen: Chasing the White Dragon achievement should be granting properly. Updated description to indicate that this is a personal achievement, not dependent on the entire group.
* Collection quests no longer consider items with Runes on them as quest items.

silverwood

In this week’s earlier hotfix, the Trion RIFT team updated some of the ways in which new players will experience questing in Freemarch and Silverwood. Players will be able to take part in Carnage quests which will give them a little preview of what’s in store for them in Storm Legion. When a few players on the forums questioned whether they were able to go back and see these Carnage additions for themselves, Tacitus specified that players who have completed the original content will not be able to go back and complete the new Carnage quests.

He also had a few things to add. Keep reading to take a look.

There are some interesting changes and additions coming in 2.3 including a new chronicle. When will we see new souls though? Hints and more hints.

More chronicles are in the works. You should expect one with 2.3.

~Daglar

In response to this question: Even if these new souls are not to be expected within the next weeks, I’m looking forward to that!
Anyway… the one new soul in SL was no reason for Trion to give us another role slot… will the second new soul now finally be reason enough for a few more???
THAT would be nice!

Daglar shared a bit of good news for Warrior players who enjoy using Combat Veteran Warlord specs that also include abilities found in the Paladin soul. The Paladin soul still has a few clunky “flavor” ability requirements that require the use of a shield. This won’t be the case for much longer!

The flavor is nice on the Paladin, but at the end of the day the game play and synergy suffers for it. I’ve asked Aillion to remove the shield requirement on a number of Paladin abilities – and to rename the ones that would be silly without it.

Hm, that means a change in name for Shield Charge. ‘Shiny Wings O’ Light Charge’, anyone? Nah, probably not.

S01E20 Title Screen

Catch up this week as we have a roundtable discussion with Ridculy of Knights of the Temple, Slade of Lords of the Dead and Jonalynne of Herfolge Boldklub (say that 10x fast).

Is WvW ranks creating too many zergs? Is there less incentive to play the game now as it was intended?

We talk about SABs, Wildstar, TESO and the future of PVP in the MMORPG genre.

wildstar welcome title copy

We are please to announce our latest arm of the Junkies Nation Network: Wildstar Junkies! It has been our long tradition to launch and cover the latest and greatest MMORPGs coming out on the internet. It’s been a long while in coming, but it’s finally here. We are dedicated to bring you the latest news, opinion, guides, community coverage when it comes to Wildstar.

Wildstar is going to be a bright spot in the MMORPG playing field. Going back to the roots of large scale raids with a taste of hardcore-ness and then including a way to incorporate player housing so it doesn’t feel like you’re playing with a doll house, we expect Wildstar to be at the top of the genre.

Let’s not even forget that it’s combat system is slowly living up to it’s hype with a hybrid “soft-targeting” system that is a hybrid of some action-based games like TERA and the old tab-targeting system of World of Warcraft. We can’t wait to get our hands on the game on our own PCs.

So please bookmark us and follow us on twitter!
