Beta Weekend is in full swing as people who have already pre-ordered are getting their first look at Storm Legion. If you’re not part of that group, or still stuck at work, here are a few screenshots Trion has released for Storm Legion.

09/15/2012

Storm Legion’s starting to look pretty electric, especially for fans of the Warrior calling. Storms abound, and tempests. Lots of tempests. Yesterday was Trion’s official Storm Legion Tempest live stream reveal, and Atrius, the Warrior Lead Developer, Gersh, Dahanese, and Elrar sat back and showed us the new Tempest soul firsthand. They also shared some of the new, exciting changes coming for Warrior players, including major changes to many existing souls and changes to weapon DPS mechanics.

Mage Soul Reveal – Harbringer

This is the world map Simon referenced in the Live Chat yesterday at E3 2012. This is a work-in-progress map and not necessarily what will be represented in the game when STORM LEGION launches.

E3 2012 Floor Demo with Colossus 6/7/2012

Watch live video from riftgame on TwitchTV

Demo was short, showed a Colossus Event, and it was pretty much amazing. The Colossus was probably the height of the tower in Sanctum, if not bigger. It showed the Colossus breaking down a wall and Simon pointed out this is where special crafting and other areas are unlocked.

Expansion Trailer:

From Gamespot and STORMLEGION.com 5/31/2012

  • Release Date: Fall 2012
  • New Epic Quests
    • Both continents are to feature epic story content
    • There are individual stories to be told in each of these content types, though they culminate in Storm Legion’s primary narrative arc, which involves Cruci
  • Dimensions: Areas players and guilds can build on
    • Of these two continents, Dusken is the more fearsome. It’s a dark place, where death figures prominently in the world and the story; the themes are closer to horror than anything Rift has explored in the past. This is as it should be: it’s here that you follow the story of Regulos, the dragon god that hails from the plane of death. The other continent, Brevane, isn’t so obviously terrifying, though it’s no less vital. It’s on this continent, in The Eternal City, that Telaran civilization developed, though the warring factions that reside there aren’t necessarily always civilized.
  • We go back in time to visit where Telara was born.
    • Crucia gathers her Storm Legion in the long-lost cradle of civilization. Adventure through this eldritch landscape, battle your way to the planes themselves, and conquer the dragons of Air and Death!
    • The other continent, Brevane, isn’t so obviously terrifying, though it’s no less vital. It’s on this continent, in The Eternal City, that Telaran civilization developed, though the warring factions that reside there aren’t necessarily always civilized.
  • Two continents, three times the size of the current landmass
    • Of these two continents, Dusken is the more fearsome. It’s a dark place, where death figures prominently in the world and the story; the themes are closer to horror than anything Rift has explored in the past. This is as it should be: it’s here that you follow the story of Regulos, the dragon god that hails from the plane of death. • New capitol city that is shared between Defiants and Guardians.
    • Storm Legion also brings with it a new city to call home: Tempest Bay, a bastion for both Guardians and The Defiant.
  • Level 60 level cap
  • One new soul per calling (not revealed yet).
  • Crucia is the big baddie.
  • Cape slot.
  • Leveling is done via Instant Adventures, Events, Questing, all different kind of ways.
    • Trion Worlds continues to move away from the exclamation point as the primary means of delivering quests. The instant adventures that began with patch 1.6.1 shall continue into the new lands, so at any moment, you can press a few keys and be instantly transported to an action-heavy zone where a number of objectives and tremendous battles await. Rift’s story shall be told through such adventures, as well as new world and zone events.
  • Dimensions: Gives players/guilds a plot of land to “do stuff with”. Guild halls!
    • Player areas called dimensions that function somewhat like player housing in other MMOGs. Let’s say you rested at a Telaran inn that overlooked a shimmering waterfall. How great would it be to claim that inn for you and your guildmates? What if there was a parallel universe, where you could decorate it and furnish your inn just as you wanted? That is precisely what dimensions will offer: a way to own your very own corner of a very big game.
  • New Event mechanics, Colossus guys that can tear down walls and bridges and stuff.
    • More importantly, a new creature–the colossus–will attempt to ravage the land. Facing such a beast will be an exciting prospect: it’s a hundred times more massive than an individual player. It climbs bridges, knocks down walls, and interacts with the world in ways Hartsman says no MMOG has yet accomplished.
  • More crafting – Mastercrafting
  • 2 Raids, 7 dungeons, 1 Chronicle
    • Like so many expansions, Rift: Storm Legion is about more, more, and even more. There’s a new level cap (60, up 10 levels), new dungeons, new raids (2, to be exact), and a new Chronicle (that is, a challenging, story-driven instance). There are individual stories to be told in each of these content types, though they culminate in Storm Legion’s primary narrative arc, which involves Crucia, the Queen of Storms, and the legions she hopes to bring to Telara through the mysterious Infinity Gate.
  • Join the Hunt! New mode to hunt planar bosses and stuff. Maybe jumping into Rifts and take the fight there?
