Trion has a pretty amazing art department, and Storm Legion showcases that fact well. The art team posted a whole slew of Storm Legion concept art drawings on the Polycount forums recently, which is a community geared toward video game artists and designers. Some of the pieces have been shared by Trion’s art team previous to the expansion’s launch, but others are new. All in all, the collection is a pretty fantastic source of eye candy for fans of RIFT’s artwork and overall design.

To check it out, follow this link to the Polycount forums. As a warning, the thread’s rather large. Make sure to scroll down to see everything.

We received some new Storm Legion concept art yesterday, this time in the form of some pretty creepy-looking bad guys! As always, Trion’s art team came up with some amazing stuff. The level of detail on these guys is quite impressive. See the title image for a sampling.

Once again we’ve collected an awesome arrangement of new concept art from RIFT: Storm Legion, our first expansion – when it arrives this fall you’ll discover the tainted lands of Dusken & Brevane.

Teeming with planar foes the blight of the Blood Storm has begun to reshape the very ground of Telara!

The Art of Storm Legion – New Foes Emerge!

Check out the official news article on RIFT’s site for all four images.

Deep in the jungle heart of Ember Isle lies a massive caldera. Its molten core spews forth devastating rivers of fire, but this same fire also brings new life to the island in a never ending cycle of life, death and rebirth. The calderas rocky spines shoot up thousands of feet into the air, visible from anywhere on the island. As the melted earth meets the cool, calming pools at the foot of the Dormant Core you can see where the beauty and devastation meet in harmony to perpetuate the lifegiving engine.

It is here, in this primal land, where the elements are exposed in their most basic forms – the entire jungle teams with primordial energies from before the Ward and whisper of times long past. The Kelari and Keepers of the Flame commune with these spirits, and defend them against others who would seek to take their energies for themselves, corrupt them, and use them to destroy Telara.

Plane of Water

Water Rifts: The Deep Rises

The surface of all water is a membrane between sanity and lunacy, between the open air and the dark depths. By the shores and in the swamps, where real meets surreal, the Water Rifts form, letting madness loose upon Telara. Stay away from the water! Better to fish in the sand than risk ever meeting the gibbering, slimesome horrors that slither from the nightmare plane.

But then, a Water Rift can take hold even in the driest desert. Salt water rushes from nowhere and spreads into a reeking lake, from which tentacles rise and quiver in frantic rhythm. Toothed tendrils writhe from a rent in the sky, living creatures drown on land, and monsters spill from the rift like rotten fish from a net.

John Paul Balmet is a Senior Concept Artist for Rift: Planes of Telara. He was commenting on his designs appearing in Issue #0 of Telara Chronicles at Comic Con.

It’s weird to see my designs drawn by someone else, but cool at the same time! In the back of the comic there are some lore pages and a bestiary that happen to contain some designs I did. One of them is this Defiant guard.

Pretty cool.
