2nd tier pvp pa

A few days ago, Daglar mentioned that the Trion team was unsure about adding a second tier to the PvP Planar Attunement tree (also called Attunement of War) anytime soon. He did state, however, that one of the developers was really pushing for the addition. It seems that developer has come through for PvP players after all, since we now have a second tier previewing on the Public Test Server (PTS).

No announcement has been made at the time of writing this article as to when this tier may reach live servers or if the PA nodes are in their final stage. Keep reading to see a preview of the various nodes.

Note: As always, information on the PTS is subject to change at any time.

Despite Planar Attunement’s third tier popping back on the Public Test Server in early December, Trion didn’t include it in the in-progress PTS Patch Notes for Patch 2.2. This left some players confused as to whether or not it will be included in RIFT 2.2 or pushed back to another date. Daglar took some time on the official forums yesterday to confirm the fact that Trion does plan on releasing the third PA tier in 2.2. He also discussed the possibility of a future second tier for the PvP PA tree, Attunement of War:

Don’t assume anything about Tier 2 for PvP PA – it was never actually something that we had planned – nor did we communicate that it would ever be coming.

That said, one of our developers here really wants to add something for it so we’ll see.

Keep reading for Daglar’s explanation as to why the PA addition doesn’t show up on the in-progress notes.

Shared pool means that we intend to combine all PA’s earned on all of your characters, up to the maximum PA value available.

If you have 50 on character A, 100 on character B, and 250 on character C that is a total of 400 PA to spend per character.

The exp required to gain a level – the bar itself – is intended to be shared across all of your level 50+ characters. The intent is that if you are playing character A and log off at 50% of a level costing 500,000, and you log onto character B, you see the exp bar at 50% through the same level costing 500,000.

Back in mid-March, Planar Attunement’s 3rd tier briefly made an appearance on the PTS. After players previewed the additions, it was then taken off the PTS, with a message from Gersh, saying that T3 needed some improvements and Trion would hold off on its release until a “future update.”

That was before Patch 1.8 rolled out, and today we’ve just seen 1.9 unleashed on live servers. New content patches are awesome (and there was much rejoicing!), but one question still looms out there waiting to be answered: What happened to T3 PA, and why haven’t we heard an update regarding its implementation?

Tier 3 of the Planar Attunement system is currently available on the PTS for player testing. Most of the stat and resist nodes are familiar territory and are direct copies from other tiers, but there are a few new abilities to plan ahead for. Here is a basic list of the unique abilities and nodes that should be shared among all classes. This is not a full list of all nodes. Class-specific weapon and stat nodes are not listed here. For information about every node, check out the PTS.

The PA costs aren’t included in this list, but they remain similar to the first two tiers. Each ability has one node unless listed otherwise. The number of ranks listed is per node. All of this information is subject to change at any time. If you happen to notice any mistakes, feel free to drop us a line!

Rogue and Warrior weapon PA bonuses have been changed.

Instead of increasing weapon DPS by 0.2 for every point invested in the weapon PA node, you will now get 2 Attack Power for every point invested with the weapon equipped in each weapon slot. The warrior’s 2H weapon mastery will give you an additional 2 AP per point invested. Whether you are dual wielding or using a 2H weapon, you will eventually get the same amount of AP bonuses.

The AP bonuses are also added to your pet.

These changes will be up in the test shard shortly.
