Gearing up for raids can be a stressful affair. Expectations aren’t always set realistically, and a new raider is often under a great deal of pressure to come up to speed on everything at once. Worse, if your gear is sub-par, it reflects on your own capabilities more than it probably should, after all, if an extremely well geared character is pulling 1,800 dps, that’s actually fairly poor, but they’ll probably be allowed to slide. On the other hand, a newbie who is managing 900 dps in a mix of questing and normal dungeon gear is doing very well, but often are told they need to “step up”.

One way to get up to speed faster is to start with crafted gear. PvP gear is also an option, and will be the subject of a later article, but for now let’s just look into what crafting can produce.

As of the 1.7 patch, many of the crafted items have been updated, and are now excellent starters for raiding. The highest priority should be the weapon, which comes with a huge amount of spell-power and is thus your largest single upgrade. After that, focus on whichever pieces you can afford.

MURDANTIX

Since it will be quite some time before we put out our full Hammerknell Raid guide, we thought it might be fun to post a myriad of raid videos from different guilds for each of the bosses down so far (minus the latest Garau kill).

UPDATED: Garau kill video.

Gilded Prophecy is RIFT’s first 10 man raid dungeon. It is located in eastern Shimmersand that can only be accessed if you have one player with Planar Site, the 25,000 planarite ability. Gilded Prophecy contains four bosses that get increasingly more difficult. As far as raid composition, the first raid boss requires two tanks, and the rest require one. You will need a Bard/Archon for at least the last fight. Healer and dps composition is up to the raid leader depending on character strength.

The best thing about Gilded Prophecy is that the loot is on par with both GSB and ROS allowing smaller guilds to gear up easier for the other 20 man raids. You can also earn raid Marks for Tier 1 raid gear from each boss.

The bestest thing about Gilded Prophecy is that you can use your mount inside!

This article is part of a series in which we will discuss the different roles, as a warrior, that you might find yourself asked to complete in various raid instances. This will not be a rehash of entire boss strategies, only the parts that are relevant to warriors.

Today we’re going to begin with Greenscale’s Blight! This instance is what really begins to teach you the various things you have to become familiar with as a warrior. From tanking adds in a DPS spec, to announcing commands to your team, it really gets you comfortable with your place in the raid.

This is intended to be read after knowing basic strategies of the fights.

The Golden King, an Earth Rift Raid, is one of the quicker ones. It requires two tanks with sufficient healing depending on their gear. There are five phases. As always you can purchase the Lures from your faction vendors with planarite with enough notoriety or use corrupted souls to create a lure. You can easily find Rift Tears in Shimmersand.

The following is an easy to follow guide that will allow you to defeat this Raid if you are sufficiently geared and well-manned. There are no difficult mechanics and most of it is tank-and-spank.
